Qatar held a ten-race card with results that could preview things to come for racing in the UAE this season.
Highlighted by the Listed Qatar Oaks it was the 23rd race meeting for the 2022-23 season organised by The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC).
The race day was filled with action and equine talent, with half of the card showcasing fillies and mares as they contested for the five Oaks titles, including the Listed race in the final of the meeting.
On her first start in Qatar and with her last win in July at La Teste-de Buch racecourse in France, the filly Subahiyah put in an impressive performance winning the Qatar Oaks by two lengths.
Trained by Jean-Claude Rougee and owned by Al Shaqab Racing, the homebred Le Havre x Gherdaiya 4YO stretched clear to win the 2000m contest under jockey Faleh Bughanaim, who recorded a double for the day.
The Mohammed Rashid Abdullah Al Naimi-owned and Hadi Al Ramzani-trained Muneerah ran second with the Nasser Saif A R Al-Kubaisi-owned and Mohammed Ghazali-trained Midheaven filling placings.
In the contest for 4YO Purebred Arabian Fillies, it was Image Du Croate who took the victory after finishing third in the Oaks Trials.
The Al Shahania Stud-owned Image Munjiz x Beanie Du Croate filly delivered a double for trainer Rudy Nerbonne and a treble for jockey Maxime Guyon at the meet.
Al Warkah flew the flag for the locally trained brigade winning the 3YO Local Thoroughbred Oaks making it two straight after breaking her maiden a week earlier.

The win gave the partnership of trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed and jockey Alberto Sanna a double for the day.
Int the second race, the Al Ghazali Stud-owned Latifolia ran out a winner of the 1400m Maiden for 2YO Thoroughbred Fillies by a length and a quarter under jockey Maxime Guyon, getting off the mark and giving trainer Gassim Ghazali a winner on the day.
Jockey Maxime Guyon made it a double for the day when in the third race he partnered Fedwah in the colours of H.E. Sheikha Reem Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani, to a quarter of a length victory for trainer Rudy Nerbonne in the 1600m Novice for 3YO+ Purebred Arabians.
The closest contest for the day came in the fourth over the 1600m trip for the Novice for 3YO+ Thoroughbred Fillies & Mares, but it was the Injaaz Stud-owned Porsche Cavalier taking the win
Jockey Mickael Barzalona rode the mount home edging out Hungry For Fashion by a head and completing a double on the day for trainer Julian Smart.
