Six lengths. Dominant as ever storming home in the Godolphin blue Dubai Future took out last year’s Dubai Racing Club Classic with Pat Cosgrove onboard.
Beating home stablemate Star Safari under James Doyle the gelded son of Dubawi went on to take out The Listed Wolferton Stakes at Ascot before returning to the UAE and winning the Group 3 Bahrain International Trophy.
Trained by Godolphin’s master trainer Saeed bin Suroor the performance was impressive as he now looks to defend the title this Friday night.
Meydan hosts a seven-race card with several highlights including this season’s running of the Listed Dubai Racing Club Classic.
Bin Suroor has made his intentions clear with three entrants in Marching Army, Global Heat and Nader.
The 5YO Marching Army carries the highest rating from the trio with five wins to his name.
British Multiple Group One winning trainer David O’Meara will prepare Charging Thunder from his six member traveling brigade.
The 5YO Charging Thunder is returning from a 122 break from the track where he finished second to Island Brave.
Godolphin’s Charlie Appleby also prepares three hopes in Dhahabi, Walk the Stars, and First Ruler for the royal blue powerhouse.
Walk the Stars is a 4YO gelded son of Dubawi with a lot of upside, having finished fourth in a Group Two and third in a Group 3 in the UK in his last two starts prior to this.
From the remainder of the field, the 5YO old gelding El Patriota looks an interesting prospect, having won two Listed races in his native Uruguay.
Prepared by Julio Olascoaga for owner-breeder Stud La Pomme he could give this field a real shake after having five starts at the Meydan track previously.
The highest-rated hope in the field is the Ian Williams trained Enemy (108). The 6YO has lined up 19 times for three wins and a further six placings.
The journey over 2410m will begin at 6:35PM on Friday as the second race of the meet and is worth USD $100,000.
