Another weekend passes and with it another action-packed meeting for the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
With it comes this week’s latest round of Handicap Rating Revisions.
His win in the Dubai Trophy came with stablemate Perdika running second and made it two wins from two starts in the UAE and this Dark Angel x Dance Hall Girl colt is only warming up. Four straight wins from this George Boughey trained runner for the Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah ownership, three of those being by more than three lengths. He should excite when seen next start and is one of the hottest commodities going around this campaign.
Three starts ago at Ascot this Charlie Appleby gelding finished close to 44 lengths off the winner. However last start in the Palm Jumeirah Handicap under James Doyle he flipped the script winning dominantly by 11 lengths and erasing any past form results. The 4YO son of Teofilo relishes the further distance of 2000m but won his maiden over the 1600m trip in January last year following that up with a close win over the same distance.
With the win he made it three wins from twenty starts at the Meydan track. Having not won since January last year Dane O’Neil put in a great ride tracking leaders to lead at the 450m and rolling on to win. The gelding son of Havana Gold was transferred to Musabbeh Al Mheiri from William Haggis in October 2019 and has raced exclusively in the UAE and relishes distances between 1400 to 1600m
The Bhupat Seemar 4YO has taken two victories from three starts at the Meydan track, and having the current jockey champion ladder leader in Tadhg O’Shea does not hinder the performances or ability either. The Golden Horn x Favulusa colt won his last start by 1.5 lengths over the 2000m when gaining the upper hand and getting clear when 500m from home and beating stablemate Sanad Libya home.
Three on the trot for this 8YO gelded son of Oasis Dream with Oscar Chavez on board for all three. The Rashed Boursely trained gelding stunned last start in the Group Two Blue Point Sprint beating home Ladies Church and Logo Hunter in a flurry of heads bobbing and going to the decision from the judges. He would win by a short head and show what he still has left as an 8YO.
The talk grew around this Doug O’Neil runner after beating home the pack last start in the Group Three UAE 2000 Guineas, in what was his local debut. In the end winning by a length in front of the Doug Watson trained Shirl’s Bee and Mr Raj. He looks the goods and we should see him line up again soon for further success.
The last four starts for this Mussabeh Al Mheir gelding have come in either Group or Listed company. A sixth and 13th placing in Group Twos, one by 19.25 lengths with Algiers being victorious, along with a second placing in the Listed class Dubai Creek Mile that saw Prince Eilji winning prior to this start. This time retained jockey Dane O’Neil piloted the 6YO Invincible Spirit x Cuis Gharie product home to win by 2.25 lengths in the Listed Business Bay Challenge beating home the Charlie Appleby trained Modern News.
