On Sunday, June 4th, the winners of the 183rd Qatar Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly, France were crowned by His Excellency Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
Ecurie Serge Stempniak's ACE IMPACT, trained by Jean Claude Rouget, maintained his unbeaten record and exhibited a remarkable improvement by clinching the QREC-sponsored Group one for 3year old Thoroughbreds.
Cracksman's Son Shines Bright
The bay colt, a three-year-old son of Cracksman, achieved his sixth victory in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club under the guidance of jockey Cristian Demuro, bringing great success to his trainer Jean-Claude Rouget and small-scale breeder Waltraut Spanner.
Ace Impact traveled smoothly throughout the race, holding his position in the midfield as dictated by eventual runner-up Big Rock (Rock of Gibraltar).
In the home straight, he made a wide challenge and showed great determination, ultimately beating Big Rock by three and a half lengths. The rider of the runner-up was Aurelien Lemaitre, while Marhaba Al Sanafi (Muhaarar), owned by Jaber Abdullah and trained by Andreas Schutz, took third place, finishing two and a half lengths behind under Mickael Barzalona.
Ace Impact: A Winning Legacy
“We have always loved Ace Impact”, stated the winning trainer, Jean-Claude Rouget, after the race, “He was originally trained in Pau, but then he came to Deauville with the intention of debuting in the Prix de Crèvecoeur. But, unfortunately, he was the only one not to have pushed a summer coat! Otherwise, I’ve never had a problem with him and he has come with time! He debuted at Cagnes-sur-Mer. This day he beat Axiome and really set a good impression. We always thought that he was very good and today he proved it.”
ACE IMPACT, bred by Waltraut Spanner, is a sibling to Alessandro (Australia), who was placed in the Listed category, and Apollo Flight (Rock Of Gibraltar), also a Listed placed horse.
