John Singleton, the owner of Larrikin, believes that Think About It, Joe Pride's impressive sprinter, is an extraordinary talent capable of winning every race during the spring carnival.
Singleton entered the Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap with high expectations for his talented 3 YO colt Hawaii Five Oh, which he co-owned with his longtime friend and breeder Gerry Harvey. Singleton hoped that Hawaii Five-Oh could put an end to Think About It’s impressive winning streak.
Exceptional Abilities Of Think About It
However, Think About It proved to be unstoppable, securing his second consecutive Group 1 victory and extending his winning streak to seven races. Despite a strong performance, Hawaii Five Oh finished third.
Having vast experience in the racing industry, Singleton believes that Joe Pride's sprinter, Think About It, possesses exceptional abilities that set him apart from others.
"I think there is a good chance we got beaten by a freak in the Stradbroke," Singleton told Racenet.
"If you ran that race 20 times, Think About It would win every time on that day over that distance.
"Hawaii Five Oh's run in the Stradbroke was good but I didn't think he was going to win at any stage.
"Think About It could well win everything in the spring.
"Joe Pride is having a lot of success.
"People are starting to realise he is a very good trainer who knows what he is doing."
Singleton has announced that Hawaii Five Oh's first race for the spring will be in the Gr.1 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 19, according to co-trainer Gai Waterhouse's plan.
This decision is part of a deliberate strategy to have the colt racing early in the spring. The Winx Stakes will serve as a crucial race to determine whether Hawaii Five Oh will potentially compete in the A$20m The Everest or focus on a campaign towards the A$10m Golden Eagle over 1500m.
"It depends on the horse now, whether he is good enough," Singleton said.
"He could go up or down a couple of lengths.
"If he goes up a couple of lengths, he is going to be a Group 1 horse for sure.
"I would love to have a horse racing in The Everest.
"We want to see him racing really fast in the Winx (Stakes) and hopefully winning, or in a worst-case scenario being unlucky.
"Gai wants to have the horse racing early so we can then look at going back or forward (in distance).
"After the Winx Stakes, we can talk sensibly about what his spring might look like."
According to TAB fixed odds markets, Hawaii Five Oh is priced at $26 for The Everest and $15 for the Golden Eagle.
Joe Pride stated that Think About It has returned to training on Monday and will make a comeback in the Premiere Stakes in late September, which is a customary preparation race for The Everest.
