King Of Steel, trained by Roger Varian and owned by Amo Racing, will be heading to the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes. The decision was made to stick to their original plan despite being given the option of taking on Paddington and Mostahdaf in the Juddmonte International at York next week. The colt, who finished second in the Derby and third in the King George, has also won the King Edward VII Stakes this season.
Roger Varian's Impressive Record in Horse Racing Industry
Varian has trained the likes of Kingston Hill, who won the Racing Post Trophy and finished second in the Derby, and Nahrain, who won the Prix de l'Opera and finished second in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Varian has also trained Postponed, who won the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Dubai Sheema Classic.
King Of Steel's Upcoming Race in the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes
Tom Pennington, racing manager for Amo Racing, confirmed that King Of Steel will not be competing in the York highlight. “We’ve been patient with him all the way along and I don’t think another couple of weeks is going to do us any harm. He’s in good form and he’s on the right track, we’re very happy with him," Pennington stated.
King Of Steel's upcoming race in the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes, a Group One race at Leopardstown Racecourse, will be highly anticipated by horse racing enthusiasts. The race is open to horses aged three years or older and covers a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs. One of the most prestigious races in Europe, the Irish Champion Stakes attracts the best horses from around the world.
King Of Steel is a big horse but is beautifully proportioned and well-balanced. According to Pennington, not many horses that size can go round Tattenham Corner but he floated round there. “When you look at his size, touch wood, he should be even better again next year and we’re playing the long game with him," Pennington added.
