At the confirmation stage on Thursday, eight horses were left in the Juddmonte International, including the favorite Paddington. The remaining contenders for the £1 million Gr.1 race are Alflaila, Bay Bridge, Point Lonsdale, Nashwa, and The Foxes.
Although Varian will not have a representative in Juddmonte International, he may have a promising chance in another Group One race at York. Nassau Stakes winner Al Husn, owned by Shadwell, is being considered for a step up to a mile and a half in Thursday's Yorkshire Oaks. The filly, priced at 10-1 with Sky Bet, was seen in action on the Newmarket gallops under the guidance of Jack Mitchell on Thursday morning.
Varian said, "Al Husn worked nicely this morning and we’ll leave her in the Yorkshire Oaks. We’ll see how she is after the weekend but there’s a strong possibility she'll head to York.
"The trip is an unknown but she shapes as if she’ll get it, and we were happy with what we saw this morning on the Limekilns."
