On a recent occasion, Witch Hunter secured the verdict, but it was New Endeavour's performance that caught the attention of many, especially Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, who recently purchased the New Bay gelding at Goffs London Sale in June. The team paid £260,000 for the horse with the intention of targeting the A$10 million Golden Eagle in the spring and possibly the Gr.1 Doncaster Handicap in the fall.
Gai's Husband's Racing Triumph
New Endeavour's potential to excel at 2000m is exciting news for the team, including Gai's husband Robbie, as he is a son of a celebrated French Derby winner and belongs to the female family of the exceptional international stayer Pilsudski. The lightly-raced 3YO was bred by Sledmere Stud in the Hunter Valley in association with Ireland's Oghill House and breeder David Hyland.
Previously sold for 200,000 euros at the 2021 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, New Endeavour was placed into training with Roger Varian at Newmarket by Teme Valley & Ballylinch Stud. However, he raced in Teme Valley's familiar livery on Saturday night when he won Gr.2 Hungerford Stakes, bringing his race record to two wins, three seconds, and two thirds from just 10 starts, both of his latest performances coming in notable black-type company.
Sledmere Stud principal Royston Murphy shared that Moody Blue, New Endeavour's dam, is in foal to Starspangledbanner in Ireland, bringing more good news to the team. The potential of New Endeavour to excel in the future has the team thrilled and excited for what is to come.
