Waller hasn't made a final decision on which horse will represent the stable in the upcoming A$750,000 Gr.1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield, but he seems to favour Princess Grace (USA) as the most probable contender.
Princess Grace aims to improve her first-up performance, where she narrowly placed second to her stablemate Fangirl in the Gr.1 Winx Stakes. Among Waller's horses, the American mare is one of the many who have been nominated for the 1400-metre event, and the only hindrance to her participation might be a wide barrier.
"Zougotcha will be nominated, plus Osipenko and a few others, but we will probably only run one," Waller said.
"Princess Grace, I'd say she is definite. If there was to be two there it will be one of the others, but I wouldn't send her down if she drew (barrier) 18."
"She really impressed me in her first race, everything just seemed to go her way. She had a great starting position and she definitely proved that she can compete at that level," he remarked.
Chris Waller's Bold Move: Distance Shift For Zougotcha
Despite Zougotcha's disappointing performance in the Memsie, trainer Chris Waller has decided to change tactics and consider stepping up the horse's distance for future races. Waller had initially planned to aim for a spot in The Everest with the talented Gr.1 Flight Stakes winner.
"I'm glad we tried it, she didn't come to any harm and she can bounce back, but we had the wrong distance," Waller said.
"I don't think she was bad through the line, but she didn't have the acceleration that a sprinter needs."
