In a thrilling finish, Summerghand and Shadwell-bred Albasheer shared the victory in the t Constantine Handicap. The Hamad Rashed Bin Ghedayer-owned stayer, Summerghand, had lost the Great St Wilfrid by a short head just a week ago. However, the David O'Meara-trained horse appeared to be heading for a win in this race after last year's victory. But in the final moments, Albasheer, trained by Archie Watson, charged out of the pack with jockey Hollie Doyle in the saddle, to share the spoils with Summerghand.
The race was a closely contested affair, with both horses showing their class and determination. Summerghand was ridden by Daniel Tudhope, who made a bold move towards the final furlong. However, he was unable to hold off the late surge from Albasheer, who came from the rear to make it a dead heat.
Reflect On The Thrilling Climax Of His Unforgettable Horse Race
The result was a fitting end to an exciting race, and both horses deservedly shared the honours. Summerghand had run a brave race, and his connections will be pleased with his performance.
Meanwhile, Taylor’s Bloodstock-owned Albasheer showed great resilience and stamina to come back from the back of the field and challenge for the win.
The dead heat was a rare occurrence, and it was a testament to the quality of both horses that they could not be separated at the finish line. The result will be a boost for both trainers and jockeys, and they will be looking forward to future races with confidence.
Overall, it was an exhilarating race, and the dead heat added to the drama and excitement. Horse racing fans will undoubtedly be hoping for more of the same in the future, as both Summerghand and Albasheer continue to showcase their talent on the track.
Danny Tudhope was on Summerghand and said, “Hollie was flying towards the end and I hit the front soon enough on him, so I’ll take a dead-heat any day.”
Doyle said, “We’ll take that but it’s just this lad’s luck as he’s been a bit frustrating. We know how good he is on his day, but things just haven’t fallen right for him. I thought things just hadn’t fallen right again but thankfully it’s a dead-heat.”
