Jockey Chris Hayes is filled with confidence as he anticipates an impressive performance from Tahiyra, the victorious filly of the Irish 1000 Guineas, in the highly anticipated Matron Stakes at Leopardstown this Saturday.
Under the guidance of renowned trainer Dermot Weld, Tahiyra showcased her exceptional abilities as a juvenile last season. Although she began her campaign with a narrow defeat in the esteemed Newmarket classic in May, her trainer had previously cautioned that she was slightly behind schedule and would only improve from that race.
Tahiyra: A Rising Star Shining Bright At Leopardstown's Matron Stakes
True to his prediction, Tahiyra demonstrated remarkable progress in her subsequent races. The 3YO, owned by the Aga Khan, triumphed in the Irish Guineas, showcasing her immense potential. She then continued her winning streak by securing another victory in the Coronation Stakes at the prestigious Royal Ascot event.
Considering her previous accomplishments and the confidence exuding from jockey Chris Hayes, all eyes will be on Tahiyra as she prepares to grace the track at Leopardstown. Spectators eagerly await her performance in the Matron Stakes, expecting nothing short of a spectacular showing from this talented filly.
Hayes feels that quick ground can see the filly at her best: "It was good to firm at the Curragh and good to firm at Royal Ascot. It was probably a shade quicker in Ascot. That was her best performance so far this year."
With everything having run smoothly of late, Hayes is very hopeful for Saturday: "Her preparation has gone good. She is in great shape. She had her break after Ascot and has come back stronger. She feels well.
"I had a sit on her during the week. She has one more piece of work to get through, then it's all systems go for the Matron Stakes at the weekend."
