On 23rd November 2023, the Australian Racing Hall of Fame ceremony will be held at Optus Stadium in Perth, where champion trainer Gai Waterhouse will be recognized for her historic achievement of becoming an Australian Hall Of Fame Legend, following in the footsteps of her late father Tommy Smith.
Other notable inductees include trainer Clarry Conners, jockey Frank Treen Snr, and champion horses Baguette, Emancipation, and Miss Andretti in the Thoroughbred category.
In addition to these inductees, Robert "Bob" Peters of Western Australia will also be honored for his contributions to racing, breeding, and administration. Finally, a new award category named the "Australian Spirit of Racing" will be introduced, with WA's Rod Kemp as its first recipient.
Paul Eriksson, Racing Australia Chief Executive, summarized the importance of the event, stating, “Induction into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame acknowledges equine and human heroes of the turf who have achieved greatness throughout their careers.”
“We are thrilled to honour the greats both past and present on what will be a very momentous occasion. We look forward to sharing racing’s night of nights with you in Perth”.
