Durcan is also full of praise for Saudi Arabia's commitment to opening up to the outside world - “Saudi is very much opening itself up to the outside world, and horse racing, amongst other sports, will play a big part of this. The standard of the racetracks in both Dubai and Riyadh is so good that trainers & owners with top-class horses feel very comfortable running their horses there.”
Operating on a global scale, Durcan attends prestigious sales events, including the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, commenting - “Good horses can be unearthed from the most unlikely places - hence the reason we like to work as many sales as it is physically possible."
He emphasises the importance of soundness and mental attitude when selecting horses, particularly for the Middle East, commenting - “Horses transferred to the Middle East will encounter some things that they haven’t experienced before, including track surfaces, climate, training regimes, etc.”
