A nomination for the star colt Paddington will be up for auction at Tattersalls early next month. The purpose of the auction is to raise funds for injured jockey Graham Lee, who is currently being treated for severe neck and spinal injuries at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital in Newcastle. Lee, a renowned rider who has claimed victories in the Grand National and Ascot Gold Cup, sustained these injuries in a fall on the all-weather track two weeks ago.
Lee's daughter Amy has created a JustGiving page to support the Injured Jockeys Fund, which has already raised over US$1,87,625.25. Coolmore is also showing their support by auctioning off a nomination for their top-class 3YO Paddington before the first 'Sceptre' lot at Tattersalls on 4th December. Coolmore's MV Magnier conveyed the best wishes of the Coolmore and Ballydoyle teams, as well as their partners Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, George Von Opel, and Peter Brant to Graham and his family.
Paddington, who won four consecutive Group One races in just 68 days earlier this year, including the Irish 2,000 Guineas, the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown, and the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood, will stand his first season at Coolmore next year with a stallion fee of US$59,992.08after retiring as the son of Siyouni.
