Equinox, the highest-rated racehorse in the world, has recently retired from racing and will now begin his career as a stud.
Last Sunday, the 4YO secured a remarkable victory in the Japan Cup held in Tokyo. With an electrifying burst of speed, he left behind a field of top-class thoroughbreds who had previously achieved success in Group and Grade One races. His impressive four-length win solidified his status as a true champion.
Tetsuya Kimuda's horse Equinox has won his sixth consecutive race, remaining undefeated since his loss in the Japanese Derby in May of last year. The son of Kitasan Black has secured two Tenno Sho (Autumn) titles, as well as victories in the Arima Kinen and Takarazuka Kinen at home.
In March, Equinox won the Dubai Sheema Classic, where he triumphed over Ralph Beckett's dual Group One winner Westover by three and a half lengths.
Equinox has retired after accumulating over US$17.69 million in prize money. His regular rider, Christophe Lemaire, shared a picture on social media with a message honoring their latest Tokyo win. Lemaire conveyed Equinox's words, "Keep safe guys, I did my time!" and expressed his own gratitude towards Equinox, "You reached the top partner, retirement well deserved. Enjoy! And thank you."
