Preview: Speight'spercomete, Panadol, New Treasure, France Go De Ina, And Pink Kamehameha Headline The Gr.2 UAE Derby

We review all the runners below:

• EL PATRIOTA (URU): Stable star for A Cintra Pereira, who has been in Dubai since December watching his horses run. The 3YO son of Ecologo gave a good account of himself when landing Al Bastakiya Trial defeating Speight'spercomete in January and finished a respectable 3¼ lengths third to Panadol over same C&D last time but this contest may be a lot tougher for the colt.

 

• AMBIVALENT (USA): The 3YO son of Constitution won his last start by 1.5 lengths at Santa Anita in February defeating Beyond Brilliant. However, this could be a tougher contest for the colt.

 

• FIRE GROUP (USA): The Elbashir Salem Elhrari owned 3YO was a solid fourth in his last start with Panadol astern. However, the 3YO son of Not This Time is likely to be outclassed here.

 

• FRANCE GO DE INA (USA): The Hideyuki Mori trained lightly raced 3YO son of Will Take Charge was last seen winning the Hanshin Dirt by 5 lengths. Might need more experience to win in such company.

 

• LUGAMO (USA): The 3YO son of Chitu, trained by Antonio Sano, who was last seen at Meydan when multiple graded-stakes winner Gunnevera, finished third in the 2019 Gr.1 Dubai World Cup (G1). Although quite a useful colt, could do with more experience for this company.

 

• MOUHEEB (USA): The 3Yo son of Flatter makes his third start for Nicholas Bachalard, master of Jebel Ali stables. The colt has won two of his three starts and has a strong potential to win.

 

• NEW TREASURE (IRE): Starting for John Gosden under Frankie Dettori, the Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz owned gelding finished in third place behind Pink Kamehameha in the Riyadh Dirt. The chestnut son of New Approach can improve on his last performance and has a winning chance.

 

• PANADOL (USA): The 3YO colt owned by Sh Hamdan bin Mohd Al Maktoum has won both his starts. The son of Flatter who defeated Speight'spercomete in his last start stands a winning chance.

 

• PINK KAMEHAMEHA (JPN): 2021 Saudi Derby winner shows further improvement and stands a strong winning chance.

 

• REBEL'S ROMANCE (IRE): The Charlie Appleby trained gelding hopes to get back to his winning ways with this win.

 

• SPEIGHT'SPERCOMETE (USA): The 3YO son of Speightstown finished second behind Pandol in his last start. Doug Watson’s charge has winning potential.

 

• TAKERU PEGASUS (JPN): The Yasuhiko Mori trained son of Dunkirk finished a solid fourth in the Listed La Perouse but will have to dig deep to win in this company.

 

• MNASEK (USA): Another Doug Watson charge has won two of her three charges and has displayed impressive form, as expected for this race. The Empire Maker filly stands a top chance.

 

• SOFT WHISPER (IRE): Godolphin owned filly faded out of things in Saud Derby since but a better showing not ruled out now especially after a six weeks’ break.
