In the recently held racing event at Al Uqda Racecourse on December 28th, Miracle Nation emerged victorious in the Distaff Cup, representing Yousuf Mubarak Y A Al-Kuwari's colors. The filly, sired by Sioux Nation and Deira Miracle, was trained by Hamad Al-Jehani and ridden by Faleh Bughanaim, who expertly held off the challenge of Cathy Come Home to win the 1400m Conditions for Thoroughbred Fillies and Mares by a neck.
The runner-up, owned by Al Rufaa Racing and trained by Gassim Ghazali, was ridden by jockey Szczepan Mazur. Kaliysta secured the third position under jockey Al Moatasem Al Balushi, representing Abdulatif Hussain M Z Al-Emadi's ownership and Bader Al Balushi's training.
The event's trophies were presented to the winners by Abdulaziz Jassim Al Boenain, the Al Uqda Complex Manager.
Toufik, owned by Wathnan Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle, made a perfect debut in the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 3-to-6YO. The 3YO colt, sired by Amer and Waqaar, was ridden by Alberto Sanna and won the 1400m contest by a neck, with Khamees finishing second and Zakia in third.
Oddyssey, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Salman M Al-Thani, won the 1400m Thoroughbred Maiden Plate for 2YOs, confirming his promising last outing. The Gassim Ghazali-trained colt was ridden by Soufiane Saadi and secured the victory by a length. Aafoor finished second and Bu Sidra took third place.
Khalifa Bin Sheail KH J Al Kuwari-owned Al Nasr Al Washeek, sired by Toronado and Secret Question, won the 1400m Local Thoroughbred Novice Plate for 3YOs and older by half a length. The 4YOgelding, trained by Julian Smart and ridden by Jefferson Smith, secured his second win.
Ghanem, owned by Wathnan Racing, won the 1400m Purebred Arabian Novice Plate for 3YOs by a head, providing trainer Alban de Mieulle with another victory on the day. Carlos Henrique rode the colt to victory, with Raslaan finishing second and ridden by Saleh Salem Al-Marri.
Franklin William, owned by Lulwa Bint Faisal Al Haidos and trained by Bader Al Balushi, won the Thoroughbred Handicap (50-70) for 3YOs and older by a margin of four and a half lengths. The 4YO gelding, sired by Frankel and Kiyoshi, was ridden by Al Moatasem Al Balushi.
Barq Al Atam, owned by Sheikh Faisal Bin Hamad Bin Jassim Al Thani and trained by Mohamed Khaled Elahmed, won the 1400m Local Thoroughbred Handicap (35-55) for 3YOs and older by a nose. Soufiane Saadi rode the colt to victory, with AJS Duhail finishing second and ridden by Szczepan Mazur. Shaha took third place, ridden by Saleh Salem Al-Marri.
AJS Anayid, owned by Al Jeryan Stud and trained by M.H.K Al Attiyah, won the Purebred Arabian Handicap (65-85) for 3YOs and older. The four-year-old filly, sired by AF AlBahar and Anayid, was ridden by Szczepan Mazur and secured the victory by two and three quarters of a length.
