Once famous as the 'Russian Frankel', Tuz demonstrated his worth in spectacular fashion by securing a remarkable victory in the Gr.3 Dubawi Stakes, which serves as an early preparation race for the highly anticipated Gr.1 Dubai Golden Shaheen.
After being defeated by Eastern World at Sharjah on his reappearance, the 7YO horse came back with a vengeance in his latest race. The Bhupat Seemar-trained gelding, who had limited racing experience, left no stone unturned as he beat 11 other contenders, including Eastern World, in an impressive manner. Despite starting from the 13th position, he quickly took the lead and maintained his dominance throughout the race. He charged further ahead in the straight and finished the race with a massive lead, beating his stablemate Leading Spirit by a whopping eight and a half lengths.
“When he’s good, he’s very good,” said winning rider Tadhg O’Shea. “He carried a penalty at Sharjah and he’s a big horse, so he needed the run. He had a bad habit before of not changing his lead but he’s over all that now. The best thing about him is that he has so much early speed.
“He’ll give his roommate Switzerland something to think about in the coming weeks!”
