Willow Park stud is no stranger to sale-topping drafts. Willow Park will offer a bumper draft of nine at next week’s Easter Yearling Sale, of which Glenn Burrows finds it hard to pick just one highlight.
Their 2021 draft includes nine yearlings, one Lot 299 out a very speedy Stakes-winning sprinting mare Exclusive Lass by Champion sire Snitzel.
“The colt, who is the mare’s second foal is closely related to Champion 3YO, Xtravagant.”
“He is a precocious, great moving colt, with a powerful hindquarter and a real presence about him,” says Burrows about his draft highlight.
The farm, which maintains a 71.7 percent winners-to-starters ratio has produced 33 Stakes winners including 15 starters for 13 winners in Hong Kong.
The mare’s first foal, a Vancouver colt, sold to Coolmore at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale for A$600,000.
The draft includes four fillies, one of those is lot 366, by Golden Slipper producing sire, Extreme Choice.
The only yearling in the catalogue by Newgate’s latest sire sensation, she is the second foal of Gr.2-placed Keysbrook, who incidentally was sold by Willow Park carrying her first foal in 2017.
Keysbrook’s first foal, Ruru, provided an update on Saturday, adding another win to her record for Chris Waller.
Following well-documented fertility issues, Extreme Choice only produced 29 foals in his second crop, 18 of which have already been through yearling sales this year.
The son of Not A Single Doubt has produced 4 metropolitan winners and stakes-performers thus far, including the likes of Tiger of Malay and Extreme Warrior from only 10 runners.
