Two half-brothers, Rebel’s Romance and Measured Time, are poised to make their mark on the grandest stage of UAE racing, headlining seven contenders set to dazzle at Meydan on Saturday, 30th March, during Dubai World Cup Night.
6YO Rebel’s Romance, already a victor in the 2021 Gr.2 UAE Derby, enters the prestigious Dubai Sheema Classic with an impressive resume. The son of Dubawi has notched three consecutive Gr.1 wins in 2022, showcasing his prowess on turf, including a stellar performance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.
After a somewhat tumultuous 2023, Rebel’s Romance regained his form with a dominant victory in Qatar’s Gr.3 H H The Amir Trophy. Trainer Charlie Appleby expressed confidence in Rebel’s form, especially following his recent triumph and William Buick’s skillful ride. Despite a challenging draw, Appleby remains optimistic about Rebel’s chances, particularly with Buick's adeptness in positioning the horse.
Measured Time, younger sibling to Rebel’s Romance, enters the Gr.1 Dubai Turf with an impressive record of five wins from six career starts. His victories include commanding wins at Meydan’s Gr.2 Al Rashidiya and Gr.1 Jebel Hatta this season. With a notable pedigree and consistent performances, Measured Time presents a formidable challenge. Appleby acknowledges the horse’s sharpness compared to Rebel’s Romance and expresses confidence in his ability to excel in the Dubai Turf.
Real World, a seasoned competitor, returns to the Dubai Turf following his ninth-place finish last year. Despite facing a higher caliber of competition, the seven-year-old displayed strong form in a recent Bahrain Listed race. Trainer Saeed bin Suroor recognizes the tough challenge ahead but remains pleased with Real World's preparation.
Star Of Mystery, a standout over Meydan’s turf sprint course, eyes history in the Gr.1 Al Quoz Sprint. Trained by Charlie Appleby, the 3YO filly aims to become the first of her age group to clinch victory in the prestigious sprint. With impressive performances in the Al Wasl Stakes and Gr.2 Blue Point Sprint, Star Of Mystery enters the race as a serious contender.
In the Gr.2 Dubai Gold Cup, seasoned campaigners Siskany, Trawlerman, and Passion And Glory gear up for another shot at glory. Siskany, a consistent performer, boasts a flawless record on Meydan's flat tracks. Trawlerman, after a subpar showing last year, returns with improved form, highlighted by a notable victory in the Gr.2 British Champions Long Distance Cup. Meanwhile, Passion And Glory seeks redemption after a lackluster performance last season.
With a star-studded lineup and high stakes, Dubai World Cup Night promises an exhilarating showcase of top-tier racing talent.
