The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club is hosting two Thoroughbred events on the same card, which is quite rare. This adds extra excitement to the already thrilling UAE Trainers' Championship, where Bhupat Seemar and Michael Costa are tied with 36 wins each.
Both trainers have performed exceptionally well, even winning Group One races on Dubai World Cup night. As the championship comes down to the wire, the tension is palpable, but for us spectators, it's all about enjoying the drama.
The highlight of the final race evening in Abu Dhabi is the Listed Abu Dhabi Championship, a 2200m race with a purse of AED380,000. Seemar has three horses running, including Western Writer, while Costa's Alhzeem is also a contender. Additionally, there's a 0-70 handicap race where Seemar's Fall Of Rome has good prospects.
On the Purebred Arabian side, the Gr.3 Arabian Triple Crown Round 3 is the main event. Ahmed Al Balushi's RB Yas Man is a strong contender after winning the second leg. The card also includes other races such as the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Gold Cup and various handicaps.
Godolphin's veteran racers stole the show on Saturday, with Cascadian and Rebel's Romance both securing major Gr.1 victories.
Cascadian made history by becoming only the third 9YO, and the first since 1901, to win the Gr.1 Australian Cup at Flemington. The New Approach offspring has earned over AUS$10m in prize money throughout his career, which includes Gr.1 wins in the 2021 Doncaster Mile and 2022 All Aged Stakes. Cascadian, Godolphin's oldest-ever Group winner, is set to compete in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes next.
