Fayq Al Shahania triumphed in the Musheireb Cup, a 1500m Gr.2 Purebred Arabian Handicap (85-105) at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club on Thursday. The 5YO, ridden by jockey Soufiane Saadi and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, won the race comfortably by one and a half lengths. This marked his second win in a row, having won the Aziz Purebred Arabian Handicap Cup at the H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy, 35th Al Rayyan Meeting of the season on 14th March.
Earlier in the day, Saadi rode Arman, owned by Wathnan Racing, to victory in the Local Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate for 4YOs and above. The Alban de Mieulle-trained grey colt won the race by three and a half lengths, beating Burkan Zakhir, owned by Hassan bin Ali Hassan Al Matwi.
The winners were crowned by Abdulaziz Jassim Al Boenain, Al Uqda Complex Manager.
In the next race, the Thoroughbred Fillies & Mares Plate contest for 3YOs and above, Injaaz Stud-owned Kerindia, trained by Zuhair Mohsen, emerged victorious. Jockey Faleh Bughanaim rode the 4YO bay filly to first place, beating Yousuf Mubarak YA Al Kuwari’s Miracle Nation.
Classic Order, trained by Zuhair Mohsen and owned by Hamad bin Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Attiya, won the Thoroughbred Handicap (75-95) for 4YOs and above. Wathnan Racing’s Just Bring It came in second.
In the meet opener, Taymoor Al Shahania, owned by Al Bida Racing and trained by Mohamed Khaled Elahmed, won the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 3YOs, defeating Umm Al Shukhut Farm’s Deauville.
