Donnacha O'Brien is weighing up options for Porta Fortuna following her narrow loss in Sunday's Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The daughter of Caravaggio had an impressive run last year, clinching four victories, notably winning the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the prestigious Gr.1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes in Newmarket. Her stellar 2YO campaign concluded with a commendable second-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Despite her strong credentials, she started as an 11/1 outsider for her reappearance in Sunday's fillies classic, ultimately finishing just a neck behind Elmalka.
“She ran a cracker and I was delighted. Everything went perfect and she ran a big race. She arrived back about nine o’clock this morning and everything seems perfect thankfully,” said trainer Donnacha O’Brien at the Curragh yesterday.
“We are going to aim her at Ascot and may come to the Curragh on the way,” he added.
“If she seems in good form and the ground looks like it is going to be nice we may take our chance at the Curragh and if it looks like it could be slow ground or if we want to give her a bit more time we’ll go straight to Ascot.”
