Qatar Bloodstock is set to offer a share in the Champion stallion Zoustar (Northern Meteor) during the Inglis Digital June (Early) Online Sale. Bidding will commence at 3pm on Friday and conclude at 10am on the following Wednesday, June 12.
This offering of a share in Zoustar is exceptionally rare, as it marks the first time that ownership in the Widden Stud (Aus) and Tweenhills Stud (UK) resident has been made available for public auction.
Zoustar has already proven himself as the sire of 54 Stakes winners, including 8 individual Group One winners, and 96 Stakes performers. Notably, 41 of these performers achieved Stakes success as 2YO. Among his successful offspring are horses like Sunlight, Ozzmosis, Zougotcha, Joliestar, Lezoo, Mizzy, Zoutori, Climbing Star, Lean Mean Machine, Zousain, and Platinum Jubilee, to name a few.
This season in Australia, Zoustar's offspring have earned over $20 million in prize money, and he has also produced Group One winners in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Zoustar himself was a highly successful racehorse, winning the Gr.1 Golden Rose and Coolmore Stud Stakes. He has been recognized as the Champion 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Season Sire and continues to establish himself as one of the top stallions in Australasia and globally.
His impressive progeny include 26 US$1 million+ yearlings and four broodmares that have fetched US$1 million or more each. Zoustar leads as the sire of the most winners (187), Stakes winners (15), and Group One winners (4) this season in Australia.
A share in Zoustar is being offered by Qatar Bloodstock, providing the owner with priority access to the stallion's breeding services and a 1/60th share of the annual income. Zoustar's service fee for the upcoming season is US$275,000, equal to the highest advertised fee in the country alongside I Am Invincible.
“He is the foundation upon which we have built an extensive involvement in the Australian market,” Qatar Bloodstock’s Manager David Redvers said.
“The equity in the horse is very tightly held, so this represents an unprecedented opportunity to become involved in a future champion sire of Australia and share the benefits that come with that.’’
Widden principal Antony Thompson said the fact the share was being offered at all was a “phenomenal and rare opportunity for someone to become involved with one of the world’s leading stallions’’.
“Zoustar is the stallion we all dream about, his progeny is proven in both Hemispheres, he throws million dollar lot after million dollar lot at the sales and he produces Group One winner after Group One winner on the track,’’ Thompson said.
“You only need to look at his stats to understand just how significant this offering this, his past season on the track alone has been nothing short of phenomenal.
“He throws such magnificent physicals and whether you’re there to race or sell, you know it’s going to be a huge advantage knowing you have guaranteed access to Zoustar.’’
