The Copper Horse Handicap marked the end of day one of the Royal Meeting. Willie Mullins, who had previously scored a victory with Vauban in the previous year's event, secured another win with Belloccio.
The grey, formerly trained on the flat by David Menuisier, had a triumphant debut over hurdles at Punchestown last month. Upon returning to the level, Belloccio emerged as one of the top contenders.
Jockey William Buick skillfully guided his mount, launching a sustained challenge from the home turn and ultimately overtaking Lmay to win by a length and a quarter.
My Mate Mozzie finished a close third, just a short head behind.
Kieran Shoemark's impressive riding on Lmay seemed to make it quite hard work for a while in the straight. However, Belloccio ultimately emerged as the winner, showing dominance as it crossed the finish line.
