A total of 555 yearlings have been catalogued for the 2024 September Yearling Sale, now available to view online. The select sale is set to take place on September 24-25, with Part II scheduled for September 26, featuring an additional 275 yearlings.
The profile of the September Yearling Sale has surged in stature over recent years, increasingly recognised as a premier source of quality two-year-olds, as evidenced by racecourse results across Europe. Notably, the September Yearling Sale has already produced more two-year-old winners in 2024 than any other yearling sale, earning it the title of Europe's Leading 2-Year-Old Yearling Sale in 2024.
This year, the sale has boasted a remarkable record of producing stakes winners on an international scale. Graduates have celebrated impressive debuts, achieving victories in several countries, including Ireland, the UK, Italy, and Spain. Such successes illustrate the global appeal and exceptional quality of the September Yearling Sale.
The €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes has long been a highlight of the sale, offering connections of two-year-olds catalogued in the September Yearling Sale the chance to compete at the 2025 Irish Champions Festival, with prize money offered to tenth place. The vendor of the winning horse in this prestigious event will receive an Overlander Two-Box for one year, presented at The Curragh.
Yearlings catalogued this year boast impressive pedigrees from some of the most esteemed sires, including Camelot (GB), Dark Angel (IRE), Lope De Vega (IRE), Blue Point (IRE), Sea The Stars (IRE), Kodiac (GB), Dandy Man (IRE), Sergei Prokofiev (CAN), Wootton Bassett (GB), Invincible Spirit (IRE), Earthlight (IRE), Starspangledbanner (AUS), Too Darn Hot (GB), Gleneagles (IRE), and many more.
In an exciting development, a Frankel yearling, the own sister to the outstanding 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) winner Alpinista, will be offered at Book 1 of the upcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, taking place from October 8-10. This eagerly anticipated yearling filly will be presented from her breeder Kirsten Rausing's Staffordstown Stud and is set to be sold on Day 1 of Europe's premier yearling sale.
The February 11-foaled Frankel filly out of the listed-winning Hernando mare Alwilda is not only the sister to the exceptional six-time Group 1-winning European champion Alpinista, but also a half-sister to the listed-winning Kendargent filly Alpenblume. This yearling hails from Rausing’s extraordinary family of Group 1 winners and champions, including Alpinista’s grandam Albanova, the dam of four group/listed winners and the grandam of classic winner Eldar Eldarov. Her great-grandam, the hugely influential broodmare
Alouette, is responsible for producing nine winners, including the Group 1-winning duo Alborada and Albanova, both bred and raced by Rausing and trained by Sir Mark Prescott.
Rausing commented: “Lanwades and Staffordstown are proud to present world champion Alpinista's own sister at Tattersalls October Book 1. This filly, an exceptional individual with an impressive pedigree, represents the pinnacle of my over 50 years of breeding. As I retain her dam, own sister, and two half-sisters, I hope the filly will contribute to the fantastic continuing success of my 'AL family.’”
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony added, “Our visit to Staffordstown earlier this year revealed just how impressive Alpinista's yearling sister is. She is an exceptional individual with a remarkable pedigree, a true testament to her breeder, Kirsten Rausing, who has nurtured this family for many generations, producing champion after champion. There cannot be a Thoroughbred breeder in the world who would not covet this remarkable yearling, and we are honoured to offer her on behalf of Kirsten Rausing at Book 1 of the 2024 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.”

Commenting on the release of the September Yearling Sale catalogue, CEO Simon Kerins stated:
“Due to the outstanding success of last year’s sale, which was the standout sale of 2023, the profile of the September Yearling Sale continues to improve year on year. This year, we have experienced unprecedented demand from vendors, which is extremely encouraging as it shows that they are choosing the September Yearling Sale over alternative sales. Their decision has allowed us to formulate a strong catalogue full of quality, giving purchasers confidence that this is the strongest catalogue we have ever produced for this sale."
“The September Yearling Sale has produced two-year-old winners week after week throughout the season, with graduates like Purple Lily (IRE), A Lilac Rolla (IRE), Ponntos (IRE), American Sonja (GB), Folgaria (IRE), and Sea The Boss (GB) flying the flag with stakes success."
