I Wish I Win, the star galloper trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, has been confirmed for a second crack at The Everest, with Trackside Media securing the gelding for their slot in Australia's richest race.
After a gallant second-place finish in last year's edition, connections are hopeful of going one better on 19 October at Randwick.
Mark Chittick of Waikato Stud, co-owner of I Wish I Win, said: "Wish has given us one hell of a ride from life as a foal through to performing at the elite level. Joining forces again with the Trackside Media team to put things right sets the scene nicely for 19 October."
Peter Moody, co-trainer and co-owner, is no stranger to success at the highest level in Australian racing. His biggest achievements include:
• Training the undefeated superstar Black Caviar to 25 consecutive wins, including 15 at Gr.1 level
• Winning the Gr.1 Cox Plate with Pinker Pinker in 2011
• Capturing the Gr.1 Caulfield Cup with Incentivise in 2021
Moody expressed his enthusiasm for another shot at The Everest: "We're fired up about re-joining the journey with Trackside Media. We went so close in 2023, and I am hopeful that we can go one better in just under three months."
While Katherine Coleman is newer to the training ranks, her partnership with Moody has already yielded significant success. Their biggest joint triumph to date was I Wish I Win's victory in the Gr.1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick in April 2023.
I Wish I Win is likely to contest one or both of Moonee Valley's feature sprints in the Gr.1 Moir Stakes and Gr.1 Manikato Stakes before heading north for his assault on The Everest.
The gelding's connections are banking on strong support from racing fans, with Chittick adding: "I've seen plenty of racing fans around the country wearing the I Wish I Win caps from last year's quest, and I have no doubt New Zealand will get behind him again."
As the countdown to The Everest begins, all eyes will be on Moody and Coleman's stable star as he aims to secure victory in one of world racing's most lucrative prizes.
