Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Order of Australia remains unexposed at this trip and for defending champion Palace Pier, the 4YO son of Australia is the one to beat in this exciting contest. Although stablemate Lope Y Fernandez was sorely disappointing in the Lockinge he can bounce back on this faster surface.
Ten Furlongs provides a runner-by-runner form review:
Lord Glitters: After an excellent winter in Dubai, winning a Gr.2 and Gr.1 and despite a poor showing in the Lockinge has a good chance of winning his second Queen Anne Stakes
Bless Him: The track suits the smart gelding who can often be seen taking advantages of last-minute surprises but in an equal playing field he would really need his rivals to underperform to even get involved.
Regal Reality: The ½-length runner-up to Kameko in the Joel Stakes has a smart raceday tactic of closing all the way to the line.
Pogo: Struggled terribly behind Palace Pier when beaten by 31 lengths in Lockinge and firmly up against it again.
Sir Busker: Although he has really improved in the past year, and landed a good fourth in Gr.1 QEII in last start here. Should put up a good showing.
Prince Eiji: Although the gelding has posted several good efforts there is a lot for him to overcome at this level.
Top Rank: The Saeed Al Manna-owned colt looked quite at home in Gr.1 company when 7 lengths third to Palace Pier in Lockinge at Newbury. The 5YO is likely to make every effort to replicate his success and then exceed it.
Lope Y Fernandez: This just may be the one to break his string of Group One duds. Having placed in 4 Gr.1s, including the Breeders’ Cup Mile and then disappointing in the Lockinge, he should fare well with the better ground here.
Order Of Australia: Produced a marvellous effort when winning Breeders’ Cup Mile and his unexposed status makes him the main danger to Palace Pier on the form.
Palace Pier: Dual Group One winner as a 3YO and the impressive winner of Gr.2 at Sandown as well as the mighty Gr.1 Lockinge at Newbury this term, The 4YO son of Kingman will be very hard to beat.
