Jayarebe, last seen chasing home Economics in France, is being primed for another cross-Channel raid. The Brian Meehan-trained colt, who claimed the Gr.3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, finished a clear second to last weekend's Irish Champion Stakes hero in the Gr.2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville in mid-August.
Meehan is now targeting a Group Two prize on Arc weekend in Paris for his charge. "The form obviously looks strong and he's going for the Prix Dollar on Arc weekend," said the Manton handler. "That will lead us on to the next step, which could well be the Breeders' Cup Turf, but we'll see."
The Prix Dollar, run over 1m1f197y at Longchamp, has a rich history of producing top-class performers. Notable recent winners include Skalleti, who went on to claim multiple Group One victories, and Alignement, who later triumphed in the Hong Kong Vase.
Meehan also has lofty ambitions for his talented two-year-old duo, Law Of Design and Rashabar. Law Of Design built on his debut third at Newmarket with an eye-catching victory at Ascot on his second start, while Coventry Stakes hero Rashabar finished runner-up to Whistlejacket in the Gr.1 Prix Morny last time out.
"Law Of Design is in great form and we'll look at the Royal Lodge (September 28) or the Autumn Stakes (October 12) at Newmarket, depending on how he is," Meehan revealed.
The trainer is keeping his options open for Rashabar, with Group One targets at home and abroad under consideration. "At the moment Rashabar heads for the Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc weekend and we'll see how it goes. I don't think we have to make any definitive plans with him because the owners are patient," Meehan explained.
He added: "He worked this morning and worked very well and everybody is very happy. The Dewhurst is there as well and there's always the Breeders' Cup for him, so there's lots of options and we won't make a decision until we have to."
The Manton maestro is maintaining a flexible approach with his talented string, allowing their progress to dictate future plans. "We'll play it all by ear and I don't want to commit to anything with him at the moment," Meehan concluded, emphasising the importance of making decisions based on each horse's individual development.
With a formidable trio of runners poised for big-race targets, Meehan's yard is brimming with anticipation as the autumn campaign gathers momentum. Racing enthusiasts will be eagerly watching the performances of Jayarebe, Law Of Design, and Rashabar as they tackle their respective challenges in the coming weeks.
