Following her heroic triumph in Europe's most prestigious race, Bluestocking has been retired to stud by Juddmonte, marking the end of a stellar racing career that saw her secure three Group One victories in 2024.
The daughter of Camelot, expertly handled by Ralph Beckett, amassed five victories from 13 starts, including a memorable hat-trick of top-flight successes. Her final campaign reached its zenith with victory in the Gr.1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, following earlier triumphs in the Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh and the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille at ParisLongchamp.
Previous Arc heroines who went on to breeding success include Enable (2018, 2019), who produced a Dubawi colt, and Treve (2013, 2014), dam of Group Three winner Paris Paris.
While Bluestocking and US champion Idiomatic head to the paddocks, exciting 3YO Kalpana will continue racing in 2025. The Andrew Balding-trained filly, fresh from her commanding victory in the Gr.1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot, is being aimed at further top-level targets.
Barry Mahon, Juddmonte's European racing manager, said: "Bluestocking has given so much enjoyment over the last three seasons and we thank Ralph Beckett and his team at Kimpton Down Stables who have done such an excellent job with her."
Douglas Erskine Crum, Juddmonte's chief executive, added: "It is not often that Juddmonte has had three outstanding fillies and mares at the same time and, as the season draws to a close, we have had some important decisions to make.
"Idiomatic retired last week after a minor injury kept her from attempting a repeat of her win in the Breeders' Cup Distaff this Saturday. She won five Grade One races and was the leading filly and mare in the USA for the past two years."
In related news, Juddmonte announced their 2025 European stallion fees, with flagship sire Frankel commanding US$428,750. Kingman will stand at US$153,125, while rookie sire Chaldean is priced at US$30,625. Veterans Bated Breath and Oasis Dream are set at US$9,800 and US$18,375 respectively.
Mating plans for both retiring champions will be finalised in due course.
