Eight prized trophies, all bearing the prestigious National Bank of Bahrain sponsorship, are highlighting today's competitive card at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Sakhir, with three feature events carrying prize funds of US$10,600 each.
The climactic 2,400m NBB Cup sees a select quartet of imports doing battle, spearheaded by the Al Mohamediya Racing pair of Knight Of Honour and Tartan Chief. They're facing stern opposition from Abdulla Fawzi Nass's Bleak and Yousif Ahmed Alboainain's Count Rostov.
The 1,800m NBB Prestige Cup has attracted a quality seven-runner field, with Al Mohamediya launching a four-pronged assault through Returnofthemac, Elwasme, Vegas Jack and Ahdab. Victorious stable's Laser Guided adds intrigue, alongside Al Mallah Racing's Prince Elzaam and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa's West Suffolk.
Past winners of this prestigious contest include Desert Encounter, who went on to land multiple Group Three successes in Britain, and Dark Shadow, who claimed the King's Cup in his following start.
Nine speedsters tackle the 1,000m NBB Sprint Cup, with Al Mohamediya represented by the talented trio of Devaste, Edward Cornelius and Mr Irrelevant. Adding depth to the contest are Sayed Jawad Marzooq's Inveigle, S&S Racing's Boomshalaa, Al Afoo Racing's Indispensable, Al Qaseer Racing's Four Wheel Drive, Al Remah Stable's Tribal Hunter, and Al Bufalah and Al Tawash Syndicate's Hamish Macbeth.
