Kerindia is proving herself a force to be reckoned with after delivering a devastating front-running performance to land Saturday's Sawda Natheel Stakes Cup at Al Uqda Racecourse. The 4YO filly, trained by Zuhair Mohsen, demonstrated her class with a pillar-to-post victory in the 1200m contest.
Under a confident ride from Gavin Matt Ryan, the daughter of Cotai Glory broke smartly from stall five and never saw another rival, powering clear in the straight to score by five lengths from Miracle Nation, with Grey Gray a length further back in third.
The supporting card saw Ray'q showcase his stamina in the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap. The 4YO gelding, owned by H.E. Sheikha Reem bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, found plenty for Lukas Delozier to score by two and a quarter lengths from Suka'ar.
Thunder Flow continued his progressive profile with a game success in the Thoroughbred Handicap. The Hamad Al-Jehani-trained gelding, ridden by Arnaud De Lepine, asserted his authority late on to prevail by one and a quarter lengths from See All Match, with Evergreen a nose away in third.
The day's most impressive maiden winner came in the opener, where Minsk stormed to a five-length success in the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. The 4YO, trained by Mohamed Khaled Elahmed, made all under Fayos Martin Borja to score decisively from Al Maher.
Handsome Chap opened his account in taking fashion in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate, while Naseeb Zakhir caught the eye with a dominant three and a quarter length victory in the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate under Jefferson Smith.
The Local Thoroughbred Handicap went to the experienced Toyota, who powered clear under Alberto Sanna to score by two and a quarter lengths for trainer Saeed Al Shafi.
Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, presented the trophies to the winning connections throughout the afternoon at the third meeting of the Al Uqda Racing Programme.
