Sandro Paiva demonstrated his riding prowess yesterday, steering Badraan Baynounah to a pulsating victory in the HH The Ruler of Sharjah Cup. The Brazilian jockey, partnering Saif Almarar's charge, produced a masterclass in the saddle to claim the prestigious prize.
The 5YO UAE-bred progeny of RB Burn exhibited remarkable determination in the feature contest, responding generously to his rider's urgings in the closing stages. The partnership proved unstoppable as they repelled multiple challengers approaching the winning post.
The triumphant pilot, who alternates between competing on the Scandinavian circuit in Oslo during summer months and the UAE racing calendar, reflected positively on his achievement. "To continue finding myself in the top ten each season is a great thrill," said Paiva. "As a non-retained rider, this is the consistent goal I set myself, and I am very thankful for the support I receive to make this possible each year in the UAE."
Currently occupying fifth position in the jockey premiership standings as the leading non-retained rider, Paiva's impressive campaign includes 16 victories and 17 placed efforts, maintaining a strike rate of 13.4%.
