Auctav is strengthening its position in the flat racing sphere, announcing two significant sales for 2024: a mixed offering scheduled for late January and a dedicated yearling auction in September. The digital platform's ambitious expansion sees the recruitment of Enrico Simone Faccarello, bringing his wealth of international expertise to the operation.
Born near Milan, Faccarello embarked on his racing journey at just 17, cutting his teeth with Italian breeder Aldo Chiocchetti. Following sage advice to gain international experience, the ambitious youngster's path led him through some of the world's premier racing establishments.
"I left school before I turned 18 to work for a racehorse breeder, Aldo Chiocchetti. I've always loved horses, even though my family has no connection to this world," Faccarello reflects.
His global odyssey began at Haras du Petit Tellier with Patrick Chedeville, before advancing to Hanui Farm in New Zealand. The pinnacle came at Kentucky's prestigious Lane's End Farm, home to multiple Gr.1 winners and leading sires.
"The environment was incredible: it was truly the elite of racehorses. People gave everyone a chance. The methods were simple and effective," says Faccarello of his American experience.
A chance meeting with David Egan at Keeneland led to Ireland, where he honed his pinhooking expertise before completing his education at Australia's renowned Arrowfield Stud, where he developed expertise in Southern Hemisphere breeding operations.
Returning to Europe, Faccarello's expertise found homes at Écurie des Monceaux and Haras de Bouquetot, where he spent seven seasons managing stallions. Now appointed as bloodstock agent specialising in flat horses at Auctav, he brings a truly global perspective to the digital platform's expanding operations.
"The hands-on experience has taught me a lot. I've always enjoyed working closely with horses, and the sales have allowed me to build a vast network. Joining Auctav comes at the right time in my career," Faccarello explains.
