The eighth race of Emirates Super Saturday 2025 delivered a thrilling conclusion to an exceptional day of racing at Meydan Racecourse. The Mahab Al Shimaal, saw Tuz claim victory in impressive fashion under the Tadhg O'Shea and trainer Bhupat Seemar.
Tuz absolutely destroyed his eleven rivals in the Gr.3 Mahab Al Shimaal , the 1,200-meter prep race for the Gr.1 Dubai Golden Shaheen , which he memorably won in 2024 by an impressive 6½ lengths. This commanding victory marked his fifth consecutive win and further cements his status as one of the premier sprinters on the circuit. The performance sets up another tantalising World Cup night challenge for the formidable Zabeel Stables team.
Bred in Kentucky by Calumet Farm, Tuz has proven to be an extraordinary bargain, having been purchased for a mere US$7,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Oracle Bloodstock from the Mill Ridge Sales consignment. The now 8YO son of Oxbow has compiled a remarkable career record of 10 wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds from 23 starts, including six group victories, amassing more than US$2 million in earnings for Dakki Stable.
Despite the emphatic nature of the winner's performance, both placed horses delivered admirable efforts. American Stage, trained by Japanese maestro Yoshito Yahagi, ran on strongly under Oisin Murphy to secure second place, representing Yoshizawa Holdings Co. Ltd with distinction. Meanwhile, Eastern World, under Connor Beasley for trainer Ahmad bin Harmash, completed the frame in third for owner Mohammed Ahmad Ali Al Subousi, having kept on resolutely throughout.
The Mahab Al Shimaal has once again proven itself a significant fixture in the UAE racing calendar, providing spectators with a fitting spectacle to conclude Super Saturday's high-quality programme. Connections of Tuz will now be contemplating future targets, with potential international campaigns surely under consideration following this authoritative display.
