Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, chairman of the ISA bin Salman Education Charitable Trust, Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), yesterday met the Bahraini trainers and jockeys who secured victories at the King's Cup Horseracing Festival, at Riffa Palace.
Shaikh Isa thanked His Majesty King Hamad for the esteemed patronage of the King's Cup Horseracing Festival at REHC, which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Highlighting the significance of royal support, Shaikh Isa underscored that the backing of His Majesty and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister reflects the kingdom's dedication to advancing its horseracing sector and equestrian sports.
"This commitment plays a vital role in furthering this sector's contributions to the kingdom's comprehensive development," he said while congratulating the winners and wishing them continued success in upcoming regional and international competitions.
Reaffirming Bahrain's commitment to fostering national talent, Shaikh Isa highlighted the kingdom's ongoing efforts to support Bahraini jockeys and local stables. These initiatives aim to enhance their global competitiveness, aligning with a wider vision to develop the kingdom's equestrian sector.
He emphasised the crucial role of the Bahrain Jockey Academy, in partnership with Tamkeen, in delivering specialised development programmes that have significantly boosted the performance of Bahraini jockeys.
Shaikh Isa pointed to the establishment of a dedicated fund to support the professional growth and well-being of Bahraini jockeys, further advancing the kingdom's equestrian sector.
He also reiterated the kingdom's commitment to adopting strategies to enhance the growth of its horseracing sector, recognising equestrian sports as an integral part of Bahrain's rich heritage.
