Long-Awaited Success
After a 2024 campaign that saw her repeatedly knock on the door at the highest level, the five-year-old daughter of Mehmas finally secured the Group 1 success that had previously eluded her. The Coolmore-owned mare, who changed hands for 3,000,000gns at Tattersalls last December, broke smartly from the stalls and was always travelling with supreme confidence in the hands of Buick.
As the field approached the final two furlongs, Buick asked his mount to quicken and she responded with devastating acceleration to put daylight between herself and her pursuers. The official winning margin was 0.68 lengths, with Japanese challenger Win Carnelian, trained by Yuichi Shikato and ridden by Kosei Miura, rallying gamely to claim second place, with the Edward Bethell-trained Regional staying on for third under Callum Rodriguez.
This triumph represented a significant milestone for Boughey, who had always maintained unwavering faith in Believing's ability to succeed at the highest level.
Global Ambitions
Buick, who delivered a tactically astute ride, was effusive in his praise: "She's always had this performance in her. Today everything fell perfectly and she showed what an exceptional sprinter she is. The way she put the race to bed was impressive – she has serious class."
The victory opens up exciting international possibilities for the remainder of 2025, with Royal Ascot's King's Stand Stakes now firmly on the agenda. This performance firmly establishes Believing among the elite global sprinters and vindicates Coolmore's significant investment in the mare, who continues to enhance her value both on the track and for her future breeding career.
