Admire Daytona and Heart of Honor, who fought out the finish of the Gr.2 UAE Derby at Meydan, are heading the list of five 3YO made eligible to compete in the 2025 Triple Crown series following late nominations that closed on April 8.
Junko Kondo's Admire Daytona, who stormed to victory in the UAE Derby, has been made eligible for America's classic treble along with Jim and Claire's Heart of Honor, who chased him home in second place in Dubai.
The late nomination fee of US$6,000 covers eligibility for all three prestigious races that make up the Triple Crown – the US$5 million Gr.1 Kentucky Derby, the US$2 million Gr.1 Preakness Stakes, and the US$2 million Gr.1 Belmont Stakes.
The other late nominees joining the Triple Crown trail are Brereton's Baytown, owned by Baytown Partnerships and Trawitzki Thoroughbreds; Harrell Ventures and Starlight Racing's Colloquial; and LaShawna Lynch's Just a Fair Shake.
The five late nominations bring the total number of Triple Crown eligible 3YOs to 378. Connections still have options to supplement their horses for US$200,000 to gain eligibility for all three races, or US$50,000 for the Kentucky Derby only. After the Derby, supplemental nominations are US$150,000 for eligibility to the Preakness and Belmont Stakes, or US$50,000 for Belmont only.
