Musabbeh Al Mheiri celebrated a superb season as he clinched the Champion Trainer title at the prestigious Emirates Racing Authority Awards ceremony held at the Abu Dhabi Turf Club on April 12, 2025, bringing the curtain down on a thrilling UAE racing campaign.
His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan delivered a commanding performance in the ownership ranks, securing dual honours as both Champion Breeder for Purebred Arabians and Champion Owner. Yas Racing, representing Sheikh Mansoor, amassed an impressive 46 victories throughout the season, cementing their position as the dominant force in Arabian racing.
Al Mheiri's stable produced 40 winners during his consistently successful campaign, while in the saddle, Silvestre De Sousa showcased his world-class tactical awareness to claim the Champion Jockey title with a remarkable 54 victories at tracks across the Emirates.
Among the emerging talents, apprentice Qais Al Busaidi secured the season's Apprentice Championship after outriding his claim and finishing with 16 wins. His composure and determination have marked him as a rider to watch in seasons to come.
Trainer Marwan Al Baidhaei received the ERA Najm Award, recognising his dedication, sportsmanship and passion for the sport. His influence within the industry continues to grow, with his contributions being duly recognised following a successful season with his small team.
Connor Beasley had a season to remember, punctuated by an unforgettable ride aboard Heros De Lagarde in the HH The President Cup. That performance earned him the Pat Smullen Exceptional Ride Award, a fitting tribute to his tactical brilliance under pressure.
Beasley also partnered First Classs, the standout Purebred Arabian of the season, to Group One victories on both dirt and turf. Trained by Doug Watson, First Classs was rightfully named Purebred Arabian Horse of the Year.
In the Thoroughbred ranks, Tuz proved a force of nature on home soil. Despite a Golden Shaheen bid that didn't go to plan, the speedster dominated the UAE sprinting circuit with a series of commanding wins in dirt sprint features. His explosive performances in the Al Garhoud Sprint, Dubawi Stakes, Al Shindagha Sprint, and Mahab Al Shimaal earned him the title of Champion Thoroughbred, underscoring his status as one of the region's most exciting runners.
The awards ceremony brought together the racing community in a celebration of excellence and achievement. As another captivating season concluded, all eyes now turn to the future with anticipation.
