Treanmor, Godolphin's US$2.16 million purchase, is being lined up for Royal Ascot following an impressive debut victory in the 6f novice stakes at Newmarket.
The Frankel colt, ridden by William Buick, eased into the lead before stretching four lengths clear of Vlad to strike for trainer Charlie Appleby.
Following the commanding performance, Appleby suggested the Chesham Stakes could be the likely target at Royal Ascot rather than the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes. Appleby won the Listed prize with Pinatubo, who went on to be champion 2YO, in 2019.
"We were hopeful it was going to be straightforward, he's a straightforward horse to deal with and shows a lot of class. We've been lucky that the 2YOs have been running well so we had a bit of a gauge on him," Appleby told ITV Racing.
"We've never taken him off the bridle at home so I said to William to be wary of that if he had to ask the question. There should be an abundance of improvement to come."
"We had a pencilled in a plan for the Chesham but he hasn't lacked pace there so we'll see."
Appleby is maintaining a striking 6-10 success rate with his 2YO runners in Britain this year. Military Code, Rising Power and Dance To The Music are among those to have impressed ahead of Royal Ascot.
Treanmor could hardly have won any easier on debut, looking a colt out of the very top drawer. He was briefly nudged into the bridle but cruised to the front around two furlongs out, creating an impression rarely left by a newcomer.
Buick had spoken favourably about the son of Frankel in a pre-race interview and, whilst he beat nothing with experience, he could not have been more impressive. He's currently positioned behind Aidan O'Brien's Albert Einstein in the market for potential Royal Ascot targets.
