Shisospicy is heading to Royal Ascot with the Commonwealth Cup firmly in her sights after connections confirmed the exciting American filly will bid for Group One glory on June 20.
The 3YO daughter of Mitole has been imperious in her three turf outings, remaining unbeaten since switching surfaces in February. Her impressive credentials include a blistering performance in the Mamzelle Stakes where she came within 0.17 seconds of breaking Churchill Downs' 5½-furlong course record.
Morplay Racing, who have owned the filly through her first six starts, announced the Royal Ascot plan through social media on May 19, confirming a new partnership with Qatar Racing for the overseas venture.
"A 16¼-length debut winner last fall on dirt, Shisospicy placed in a pair of dirt stakes before switching to the turf in February," Morplay stated on X.
Jose D'Angelo, who trains the speedy filly, already has Royal Ascot experience under his belt. He saddled Gabaldon to finish second in the Windsor Castle Stakes last year, giving him valuable insight into the demands of the prestigious meeting.
After winning a Gulfstream Park allowance, Shisospicy demonstrated her gate-to-wire speed by capturing the Limestone Stakes at Keeneland before her devastating Gr.3 Mamzelle triumph.
Following her Royal Ascot assignment, connections have mapped out a campaign including Kentucky Downs before culminating at the Breeders' Cup.
