The Dual Melbourne Cup winner and recent Cox Plate winner Joseph O'Brien look to have a live chance of winning another of Dubai's most prestigious races as Gr.1 Cox Plate winner State Of Rest takes aim at the Dubai Turf.
In this interview with Ten Furlongs, the Irish conditioner tell us more about his Spring plans for State Of Rest.
Q: You've had a fantastic season. How is State Of Rest doing now after he’s Cox Plate win and then the trackback to your stable?
A: He's doing good. Obviously, he had a great season last year. And he's just enjoying some time off at the moment. But overall, he's doing well.
Q: That’s great, thank you. What are your plans for him to come down to Dubai?
A: At the moment, he has a number of options, and Dubai is one of them. There hasn't been a final decision made on where he's going to run next year. But Dubai is certainly an option.
Q: And if you were to bring him to Dubai, what races would you be looking at?
A: The Gr.1 Dubai Turf, and the Gr.1 Dubai Sheema Classic, so it will be one of those two races, I think will be the most likely option.
Q: Fantastic. And you'd bring him in just before the race? You wouldn't attempt him in any of the Super Saturday races, you'd go straight for the World Cup. Right?
A: It's still an option as well. There hasn't been a decision made as to where he will go but we'll see how he's training in the spring and, and it lays then after a discussion with his owners, a decision will be made from there.
Q: Do you see yourself coming down to Dubai before that?
A: Possibly. I have some other horses that are entered for the carnival. And there hasn't been a final decision made on the horses that are going to go or not go. If I have some horses, I hope to come out there at some stage
