Counttheheadlights showed himself to be the leading male Blue Diamond Stakes contender for the state's leading stable with his strong debut win at The Valley last Saturday, and now it is time for a filly from the stable to stake her own claim.
Co-trainer Ciaron Maher was happy to rank last Saturday's winner as his main colt going into next month's $1.5 million feature and said that, away from his Golden Slipper-bound Coolangatta, debut winner Latizia can prove she is the stable's leading female chance.
Maher, who trains in partnership with Dave Eustace, said Latizia can join Counttheadlights as a genuine Blue Diamond threat if she can run strongly in Wednesday's crucial Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview, for which she has opened the $4.60 second favourite with Sportsbet behind the Godolphin filly Jewellery ($3.40).
Maher also provided an update on his Alister Clark Stakes winner Grandslam, who jumped out at Cranbourne on Monday morning.
