Represented by his first crop is Accelerate. Sired by a son of Smart Strike, who was the first horse to earn honors as champion at two and three in the U.S. since Spectacular Bid in 1979-1980, cwas both extremely class and extremely durable. Best at ten furlongs on the dirt, he was a Group stakes winner at two, three, four, and five. He peaked in the last of those years when he earned six of his nine stakes’ victories including the Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Accelerate’s first crop are now two, and he is represented by a duo here. The first of these, lot 7, consigned by Hyde Park Stud is out of Camielee, a daughter of Harlan’s Holiday. Camielee never ran, but she is the dam of five winners from her first four foals, headed by the speedy and precocious Vodka and Water, winner of the Kentucky Juvenile Stakes. Camielee is a half-sister to another fast horse in Bobby Abu Dhabi, winner of the Gr. 2 Kona Gold Stakes. We can also note that this colt is bred on the same Lookin At Lucky/Storm Cat cross as Group one winner Wow Cat, and nine other Lookin At Lucky stakes winners.
Lot 42, consigned by Star Bloodstock is a colt by Accelerate out of the winner-producing, Rubytheheartstealr. A daughter of a speedster, Henny Hughes, Rubytheheartstealr is a half-sister to Graeme Six, who was not only a Group stakes-winning and Group one placed performer, but who also produced a trio of black-type winners, headed by the Rampart Stakes heroine, Cali Star, and Delightful Joy, successful in the Gr. 3 Monmouth Oaks. This filly is bred on a version of the Acclamation/Green Desert cross that has produced Acclamation Group two winners Lilbourne Lad and Ventura Tormenta.
The first horse in 37 years to capture the U.S. Triple Crown, and the first to take the Triple Crown and Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, American Pharoah, has made a rapid impact with the runners from his first three years at stud. He’s already had Group and Group winners in the U.S., Canada, Japan, France, England, Ireland, and Australia.
