Leading Singapore-based trainer Shane Baertschiger's plans for his recently purchased colt Saint Tropez don't include a trip to Singapore. The A$200,000 colt may stay and race in Australia with Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young for the time being.
Baertschiger made the purchase via an online auction which also featured Chris Waller-trained Aramayo, who ran second in last year's Epsom Handicap. Aramayo was passed in with a reserve of A$155,000.
Baertschiger, who was born in Australia but left in 1993, parted with $200,000 for the colt, who at his previous start finished 14th in the South Australian Derby. One start before that the son of Not A Single Doubt finished third in the Chairman's Stakes behind Jungle Magnate.
Baertschiger, who is good friends with Trent Busuttin and owns a stake in promising colt Pascero.
