Oliver Cole's charge Royal Scotsman show fine promise, especially in the face of absentee Godolphin’s Noble Style.
Trainer Appleby reported via Twitter: “Noble Style pleased in his work yesterday but he has since had some unsatisfactory blood results back. As a result, he will not run in the Coventry Stakes.”
9-time title holder, Aidan O'Brien holds a strong hand once again with Blackbeard and Age of Kings, who both looked smart prospects when scoring last-time out. The latter was very strong at the finish at the Curragh 2 weeks ago but Blackbeard seems to have more natural pace having displayed an impressive turn of foot in the Marble Hill Stakes there, so gets the vote. Persian Force looks best of the home team, with Bradsell, Remarkable Force also worth a mention.
Age Of Kings: The 1,100,000gns Kingman cold looked like he needed more time to mature when he came runner up at Nass on debut. However, showed that he is truly ready when he powered away in a novice race at the Curragh two weeks ago and looks another serious contender for Aidan O'Brien.
Blackbeard: The unbeaten No Nay Never colt has progressed with each start, capstoned by a Gr.3 in tremendous fashion at Curragh last month. Ascot should be easy enough for the colt out a yard that has won this a record 9 times.
Bradsell: The Tasleet colt, a 9-length winner at York on debut last month, recording an excellent time figure in the process must be considered.
Harry Time (Ire): £32,000 Yearling, 82,000 Gns 2YO, The 2YO Harry Angel colt, bred to be precocious and looked like a good prospect as he justified strong support at his maiden on debut last month. However his bare form seems ordinary, however he could win as a long shot.
Holguin: Andrew Balding's charge was a pretty professional for a debutant at newbury but was readily brushed aside by Persian Force there next time.
King's Crown: The 2YO son of Starspangledbanner Seems to be out of his depth here.
Lakota Blue: This looks very ambitious for the 42,000 gns Sioux Nation colt.
Late September: This is a tough ask running on turf for the first time for the US-raider who showed much-improved form to get off the mark at the second attempt in 6-runner maiden at Churchill Downs (4.5f) last month.
Paddy's Day: It seems there is much mroe needed from this €68,000 Starspangledbanner 2YO colt.
Persian Force: The Mehmas colt had little difficulty beating Holguin at Doncaster in 3-runner novice. High on the shortlist.
Remarkable Force: The £140,000 2yo by Acclamation. looks like a powerful colt who should continue to progress.
Rousing Encore The Acclamation colt is definately worth a shot.
