Everest hopefuls Joyful Fortune and Shades Of Rose contested the same Rosehill barrier trial on Tuesday morning with the former leading throughout to win the 900m heat narrowly.
Joyful Fortune's trainer Mark Newnham confirmed Tom Sherry, who rode the former Hong Kong sprinter in the trial, will also have the mount in The Everest.
Trainer Bjorn Baker was upbeat after Shades Of Rose's third placing in the Rosehill heat and he has secured three-time Everest-winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy to ride the mare in the big race.
