The 3 YO Giga Kick made a late charge and won the $15 million race. The TAB Everest in a driving finish, becoming only the second horse of his age to win the event, by surging past Private Eye in the last strides to win the world's richest turf race in his fifth career outing. The 2019 Triple Crown was won by Yes Yes Yes, the first 3 YO to compete in the race.
“Extraordinary, stunning,” Bruce MacAvaney said in a commentary.
For 27 YO Clayton Douglas and winning jockey Craig Williams it was a dream come true while slot-holder James Harron collected his third Everest after being successful with Redzel in the first two runnings of the race.
Craig Williams said, “My team around me, my family, thank you for everything throughout the years. This is a really big thrill. The inaugural running of it five years ago I finished second on Vega Magic and I thought we had unfinished business. This is another great story and every time you see these horses line up it’s a privilege for a rider to have a ride in this race.”
