On Friday, RV vets will re-examine Melbourne Cup hopefuls Gold Trip and Schabau, who passed their preliminary checks on Thursday. Inspecting Schabau, owned by Robert Hickmott and presently ranked 32nd, revealed lameness in the left front leg. RV vets passed Gold Trip, who was trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, despite the fact that the horse showed minor heat in its right front foot. The vets think the horse is healthy enough to run, but they'll double-check on Friday just in case. Vets gave the green light to the other 22 horses examined on Thursday.
The following horses will undergo their initial pre-race physical veterinary examination on Friday:
Deauville Legend (James Ferguson)
Hoo Ya Mal (Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott)
Loft (Marcel Weiss)
Without a Fight (Simon and Ed Crisford)
Camorra (Ben and JD Hayes)
Arapaho (Bjorn Baker)
Makram (Ben and JD Hayes)
If Joseph Pride's Sydney-based gelding Stockman enters Saturday's Rosehill Gold Cup, he will be vetted by a Racing NSW vet on Friday and again after the race on Saturday.
