On Friday, November 18th, Alflaila, trained by Owen Burrows, will compete in the Gr.3 Bahrain International Trophy for £600,000.
Alflaila, owned by the prestigious Shadwell Estate, will be Burrows' first runner in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is considered a top contender for the 1 14-mile race. The son of Dark Angel is unbeaten in three runs, with his most recent victory coming in the Gr.3 Darley Stakes at Newmarket. With this victory, he earned a spot in the Bahrain International Trophy. Alflaila won the Darley Stakes under Jim Crowley despite a poor start from the stalls, beating a strong field of competitors.
Burrows, speaking ahead of Alflaila travelling out to Bahrain next week, stated, “I’ve been really, really pleased with him since Newmarket. He has come out of the race well. We’ve had a couple of quiet weeks with him but are stepping his work up now. He looks great and although we’re coming towards the end of the year, he’s showing me no signs that he has had a hard season. He’s really well.”
